Confusion: A Natural and Necessary Part of ALL Learning

I recently had the opportunity to attend a social-emotional learning workshop at The Master Teacher. Paul Bernabei presented lots of great information in regards to mindset and intelligence as they relate to learning. One of the key points that stuck out for me was the importance of confusion and teaching kids that Confusion Rocks! Students need to understand that everything we know or can do today we were once confused about.

Here is a blog post that explains more about Mindset: The Power of Confusion.

The Talent Code

Yay! After a long hiatus, Daniel Coyle is back! Daniel Coyle, the author of “The Talent Code: Greatness Isn’t Born, It’s Grown. Here’s How”, is one of my favorite authors. His book supports the growth mindset and gives the reader a playbook of strategies to grow talent.

The Talent Code Blog is a great resource to help you and your children with understanding that talent is grown, not something you are born with and give real world examples to share.

CLASS DOJO and MINDSET

Mindset-If you haven’t heard of Carol Dweck’s research and the importance of mindset, I encourage you to explore the videos from previous posts here. Another great resource is Class Dojo.

Class Dojo is a behavior management tool that many of the teachers at West Elementary are using this year. The creators of Class Dojo, understand the importance of mindset and created videos where Mojo and Katie explore the brain and mindsets. The videos are available on the Class Dojo website under the Big Ideas section or you can search YouTube.

We look forward to sharing resources with you. Please feel free to share with us.
